In the story of How the Grinch Stole Christmas the mean old Grinch comes down to Whoville. He sets up a plan to ruin the Whos Christmas by taking their Christmas dinner, their christmas tree, and their presents. When the Cindy-Lou Who comes down and catches the Grinch ruining christmas his heart seems to soften up slightly. The Grinch finished ruining Christmas and was heading up to his home just north of Whoville. Then he looked and saw the whole town come together to sing and enjoy Christmas even without presents. He decides to return all the food and all the presents and save Christmas for Whoville.
In How The Grinch Stole Christmas the Grinch is a second class citizen of Whoville. The Who’s of whoville are the rich and upper-class citizens in Dr. Suess’ world. The introduction to the Grinch initially points out the differences between the Grinch and the Whos of Whoville. The Grinch is different than the Whos because he lives just outside of Whoville and unlike all the Whos, he does not like Christmas. The Grinch becomes particularly angry during the Christmas season this could be caused by all of the things the Who’s do during the Christmas season such as celebrating, buying and receiving presents, and eating dinner together. All of the differences between the Grinch and the Who’s of Whoville is what makes him feel different because it puts him in a different social class.
The Grinch felt left out from everyone because he did not participate in christmas. The Grinch’s goal was to even it out and bring himself closer to the Who’s. He did not receive any gifts and if he took the gifts from the Who’s it would bring them closer. For the Grinch, this is a really logical way to think, instead of making the poor, richer his plan was to make the rich, poorer.
