The open systems interconnection (OSI) has been developed by the International Standard Organization (ISO) to maintain a standard for the exchanging of information within a network of communications. It basically comprises seven layers of rules that would serve as a standard for the communications networks all over the world. The seven layers attempt to define abstract ideas on these issues.
