Few community bookstores have begun with a rational approach by owners. The motivation behind the bookstore is often political, religious or emotional. Owners of small bookstores who begin with a dream of a pleasant shop, well stocked with their favorite books, surrounded by like-minded customers discussing their philosophical viewpoints, playing chess, reading stories to children on Saturday morning, and generally relaxing, experience a brief period of dreams.
