Parents leaving their families behind in search of jobs abroad devalue Filipino family life. This affects the formation of growing children when a mother or father leaves home with the hope of a promising job abroad in change of food, comfort, and education of their children. One obvious reason for this is poverty. Indeed, a Church which is poor and for the poor must not fail on this area. This urgent challenge calls for a deeper reflection and immediate action both by the Church and the Government. However, why is it that the Church and the government seem to be incongruent in their responses where in fact they share the same goal?
