In terms of women’s issues, the Mafia is most frequently associated with prostitution and, more recently, the global sex trade. The domestic lives of Mafia couples, their respective roles and attitudes, is also a legitimate aspect of women’s studies of the Mafia. Employing biographies, newspaper reports and women’s studies research this paper assesses matrimony, domesticity and gender amongst La Cosa Nostra.
