2.1 The learning environment is very important to be safe and supportive for learners. I want them to feel safe and comfortable during the course, especially those who have had a bad experience in the past. And for this the main key is the Health and Safety Act (1974) and a register for fire safety, that are presented at the beginning of the course and I also ensure they have refreshments, they are relaxed and they can express their ideas without fear and ridicule.

I ensure to establish ground rules and that they are comfortable with each other. I try to model a good behaviour, by arriving on time, my phone is switched off and treating them with respect. Since the beginning of the course I want to help them to get to know each other by doing small groups, whole group activities and pair work. And this will help them to connect, to express their opinion and to share their background.
