He shows us that television is not only a technological reality, but also a sociological phenomenon. Television, in other words, moulds society in the same way that society moulds television. Barnouw demonstrates that we can not really understand our own history without examining the effect that television has had on almost every aspect of our lives. He is especially interested in television’s newest features.
