The matrix structure encourages a “laissez-faire” leadership style as in, this style incorporates the input of team members before managers make decisions. Furthermore, this increases the ability to contribute valuable decisions thus resulting in higher level of employee satisfaction and increased motivation. However, a disadvantage of the Matrix Structure is that it can result in internal complexity. Basically, that means some employees may become confused as to who their direct supervisor is.
