In relation to the video

In relation to the video, Jeff Emmelt discusses the development of analytical listening in business. In analytical listening, an individual is supposed to think critically in connection to the economic developments that happen in their surroundings. Thus, the 2007 financial crisis in the United States was a major point of emphasis in his lecture. It is important to question one’s thoughts as to why there are developments in the financial perspective and why they happen in the same way. In analytical listening, a business person needs to surround themselves with the people that they trust. From this point of view, Jeff’s lecture aims at the development of the circle that is helpful to the growth of an individual’s business opportunity. Based on the illustrations in the video, Jeff gave an instance of a senior person in a company’s management but did not have proper analytical listening skills. Competencies needed in the twenty-first century are relative to the analytical listening skills (Laursen, & Thorlund, 2016). Therefore, there is the necessity for the development of better leaders in the current society who would be able to make decisions that are helpful to the economy.
Jeff’s lecture on analytical listening skills that are needed by management in different organizations implies that there is the necessity to listen and question a person’s thought. This is because, in an analysis, there should be the concept of asking what needs to be done and reasons for its support. Management and corporate need to understand that the development of an opinion relative to business should be questioned hence it would lead to informed decisions (Guffey, & Loewy, 2015). Jeff’s talk on analytical listening skills is relative to the requirements of business operations in the twenty-first century, therefore, the management of different organizations needs to understand the importance of analytical listening.
