Business Communication Trends Paper

Communication is a major part of running business processes. Communication are important in dealing with employees and customers in business organizations, here and abroad. In this paper, I am exploring in this paper, the role communication plays in the business daily activities, trends in todays workplace, and the type of messages conveyed because of todays workplace trends.

What roles does business communication play in day-to-day activities
Business communication is the most vital cog to the success of any many organizations. The Communication between businesses and their employees, vendors, and customers are the most efficient way to conduct business. Business Communication is at the heart of successful organizations and those that communicate the best are also ran very proficiently from the top to the bottom of their organization (Locker & Kienzler, 2008).
Business Communication appears in various forms and manners such as committee meetings, e-mails, cellular and blackberry phones, personal digital assistant (PDAs), pagers, and laptops, just to name a few, different ways to communicate. Business communication can also consist of financial reports, policy and procedure manuals, performance evaluation reviews, and memorandums to convey organizational information to its management and employees.
Business communication allows organizations to have communication with customers, through purchase requisitions, billing invoices, mission statements, and organized planned events. Communicating to potential customers about the business and organization goals through the company website, flyers, and network marketing plans.
What trends have you seen in the workplace
Here is a list of 10 trends in business communications very prevalent today. (1) Distributed co-creation moves into the mainstream by gathering information through the websites to help develop, market and support of product and services used in the market from Social Networking, other website communities and software developers (Clyburn, 2010). (2) Making the network the organization have many companies pushing for building and managing networks to be flexible and extend beyond internal and external boundaries in the organization (Clyburn, 2010). (3) Collaboration of technologies are expanding the growth rate of video and web conferencing rapidly up to 20 percent of the organizations expenditures (Clyburn, 2010). (4) The growing “internet” of things by definition are the ability to compute and communicate information into becoming assets of the organization. The assets include sensors and actuators that make processes efficient, develop new products and business models that adapt quickly to the changes in the business environment (Clyburn, 2010). (5) Experimentation with big data are trends based upon insight from data through customer interaction and analyzing transactions. The data drives the trend for adjustments in research, innovation and marketing throughout organizations (Clyburn, 2010). (6) Wiring for a sustainable world were performing corporate metric procedures for tracking the financial markets for stakeholders, lenders, and outside influences (Clyburn, 2010). (7) Presenting “Anything as a service” by transforming sold products into services from, developing software for computers and networking, car rentals, and other transportation services (Clyburn, 2010). (8) The multi-sided business model in todays business world create value through multiple players interactions instead of the one-on-one transactions traditionally used in most organizations (Clyburn, 2010). (9) The bottom of the pyramid innovation happens when customers requests for below the market conditions and technology services and products combines with each other to create a disruptive business models for organizations (Clyburn, 2010). (10) Producing the public good on the grid by improving the advertising and potential effectiveness of technology. Creating, packaging, managing and delivering the products through the improvement of technology presented to the public (Clyburn, 2010).

What message types are the results of these trends
The message types results clearly shows today the effects and major role that technology has played in the scope and planning in business communication. The consistent theme throughout the current trends are about the advantages of organizations that stay ahead of the technology competition over the companies that stay behind the trend. The innovative companies are way ahead of the curb with the willingness to accept technologies and incorporate it into a main way of doing business. The trends foreshadow successful organizations open to innovations in marketing, research and development of products and services should have a long stay in the top of their industry.
