Posture

This paper discusses posture as a form of non-verbal communication and as an expressive motor habit.

While we stand on a corner or sit on a park bench watching people, the first impression we get of them is conveyed through their overall postures – static – or their movements. It is the same in personal interaction. So much is said through the positioning and movement of one person in association with another or others involved. Is posture basically a biological entity? How much does culture influence movements and posture? And how is posture influenced by individual personalities? These are the questions which lead one to investigate the topic of posture.
