Moral Decadence

How revolutions and wars affect ethical and moral standards.

Examining how major historical events such as wars and revolutions, can alter an generation of people and society. Three specific events are examined – The Industrial Revolution, World War I and the Vietnam War -for the effect they had on the subsequent generation, both morally and ethically.
“Societal change during and following revolutions and wars has manifested into a pattern. This pattern can be exemplified by the effect that the Industrial Revolution, World War I and the Vietnam War had on society. It seems as though ethical and moral standards decline as a result of such significant historical events. Revolutions and wars are significant historical events because they are indications of a rise in power and change of environment. This is what fuels the unethical and immoral behavior of the society at the time. With this continuous pattern, the new society of the next 50 years, marked by the Technology Revolution, will also have lowered ethical and moral standards.”
