This paper explores the history of Albany that covers the complete historical perspective and the developments over the years. The paper narrates an economical history of Albany with preliminary details about the associated social changes and emphasizes that this typical, prosperous American community has developed and progressed due to natural sprawl and untamed economic growth more then because of minutely detailed planning and discipline. The paper shows that the essence of America that is freedom and equality were then main constituents of a great American development.
“The history of the city started as fledgling Americans moved towards a fledgling community that in those times encompassed a population of about five hundred people. There were about one hundred and fifty buildings, including residential area and work places. Most of the houses were made of wood. This was actually the second generation of Albanian people. Their fathers were the founders of this community. The community had actually started about forty years ago, when the first generation Albanians had gathered around this area so they can export animal furs. They bought these furs from hunters who were attracted to Albany by the great variety of trade goods and local crafts, the skins were bartered for those handicrafts, which were mostly good in craftsmanship and inexpensive. The founding fathers of this community were brought from all across Europe. The Dutch west India Company had recruited them from Germany, Scandinavia, Continental lowlands, British Isles and equally from Netherlands. By mid seventeenth century most of them had married into the indigenous population called the Beverwycks, and there was a much-established social system with well-grouped families.”
