America is a nation made up primarily of immigrants and their descendants. The Asian Indian experience in the United States is both similar to some of these immigrant groups and different from them because of unique aspects of Indian culture, the circumstances of immigration, and the way this particular ethnic group has sought to retain certain elements of its culture while adapting in other respects to American culture.
