“When the people fear the government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty.”. This is a famous quote by Thomas Jefferson. What Thomas Jefferson means is that there should be space for people’s opinion in a government and the government’s decisions should be directly or indirectly taken by the people. The colonists were justified in fighting a war to break away from Britain because the British government did unlawful things e and abused power, and they taxed the colonists without representation or without consent.

The Americans were justified in fighting a war with the British to break away from them because they did unlawful things and abused power. For example, according to the declaration of independence “A prince whose character is tyrannical and abusive is unfit to be the ruler of free people. In addition to this, the declaration of independence also says, “the history of Great Britain is a history of repeated injuries and unlawful acts all aimed at the establishment power over the states”. This expresses the idea that the British government didn’t want to keep space for public opinion in the government, the British were not good enough or capable enough to rule over the colonists. Therefore, the colonists became angry and frustrated and decided to fight and die for their rights.

The Americans were justified in fighting a war with the British to break away from them because the British taxed the colonists without representation or the colonist’s consent. Baron Lamden a member of the British Parliament said that taxation and representation are inseparable. He also thought that taxation are set together by the nature by nature and are like natural rights that can’t be taken away by any means. This reveals the importance that public opinion is important and the people should be able to take part in politics and make decisions. Therefore, the colonists did the right thing by rebelling because.

The American colonists were justified in fighting a war to break away from Britain because, the British did unlawful things and abused power, and they taxed the colonists without consent or representation. The main reasons for the American colonists to break away are, Britain had kings and princes that were not good at running a state and were not capable enough to rule over the colonists, and they taxed the colonists without representation or their consent. A government should have a place for the public’s opinions and representation.
