Millions of animals go through the agonizing torment of being taken away from their natural environment to become test subjects

Millions of animals go through the agonizing torment of being taken away from their natural environment to become test subjects. Unlike humans, animals cannot say no. Animal testing should not take place, while it is true that without animal testing we would have never found out more about diabetes, it is still inhumane to test animals. Animal testing fails 92% of the time, drugs taken by humans may be lethal to some animals, and animal body systems are not identical to humans. The mistreatment of animals needs to stop.

All drugs that pass animal testing 92% of them fail human testing. “Animal test do not reliably predict results in human beings (60).” 150 clinical trials to treat inflammation have failed although they were successful in animal testing. Most test done on animals are flawed. Majority of animals used in biomedical research end up being killed during or after experiment. Due to the mistreatment of animal’s wellbeing, they are routinely sacrificed.

Some chemicals that are harmful to animals are valuable to humans. “Aids/Hepatitis B are lethal to humans but immune to monkeys (The Magic Collective).” This test would be unnecessary because it would not solve the problem. Animals would go through suffering to end up dying for a cure that will not happen. You cannot base test result off one subject to another.

Animals are very different from human beings and therefore make poor test subjects. The test on animals would not prove anything due to the differences in the body systems. “It’s very hard to create an animal model that even equates closely to what we’re trying to achieve in the human (Furlong, 5).” “We are not 70 kg rats (Hartung, 50).” Animals and Humans aren’t meant to be looked at as the same when it comes to testing.

Testing animals is inhumane and downright unethical. Although some important things were found from animal, testing it is still wrong to do so. C=Becoming a test subject for the rest of your life is not right. So what we found out more on diabetes we could find out even more without animal testing. Would you enjoy not being able to speak up for yourself? End animal testing now!
