The main protagonist of the story is Phillipa, a 7 year old girl who has been left at home by herself on her birthday by her mother Ruth and her father Rolf. Phillipa spends her time outside talking to her ragdoll Chubby and imagining unrealistic situations. The purpose of the text is to show how one might feel in an abusive and neglectful relationship and how to escape reality by using your imagination. I’m trying to hold my breath.
