History in the United States of America during the early 1920s would change forever. On January 16, 1919 Nebraska became the 36th state to ratify the 18th Amendment to the Constitution. People wanted prohibition because employers were going to work still drunk and working with a hangover. The Amendment declared it illegal to manufacture, transport, and sell alcoholic beverage in the United States. Prohibition was seen as a solution for one of the most serious problem in America which is caused by drinking, but then why did American Change its mind? It happens for three major reasons: crime, economic issues, depression.
