Duty of care specifically to my own role means that I have a professional responsibility to ensure that I maintain a level of safety for individuals that I may come into contact with. This includes a legal responsibility to ensure that people around me are appropriately safeguarded form any risk of harm. This includes working safely and reporting and concerning issues as well as having accountability for my own actions and highlighting and concerns or incidents of risk of harm. This could be in relation to ensuring confidentiality and the storing of information is kept secure, my professional judgements appropriate and are not misconstrued by my own beliefs or judgements so that all is treated with equality, dignity and without discrimination. In addition, I also have to ensure that I a professional candour and high standards of conduct outside of the professional role is maintained.
